You
will need
You will need
1 obowl
1 block oasis
1 candle holder
1 candle
4 lengths of conifer
4 astelia leaves
4 camellia leave clusters
Order one dozen fresh yellow roses or one dozen yellow red roses |
Conditioning your plant
material
When you bring home the fresh roses ,
cut off 1 cm from the ends and put the stems off in boiling
water for 10 seconds. Then plunge into cool water and leave to soak for
a few hours.
You have now conditioned
your flowers, ready to arrange. |
The
Mechanics . Cut the end of your block of floral foam about
3" from the end and half again. You can cut it with a piece of florists
wire. Float it on top of a bucket of cold water. Do not try to sink it!
It will slowly fill with water and sink itself. When it has done this,
take it out and put it into the o bowl. Push it onto the prongs that stick
out from the bottom, so it is a snug fit. Put the candle into the candle
holder and sink it into the foam right in the middle of your design You
are now ready to start.

Let's get arranging
Poke the 2 bits of conifer into each end of the foam so they go out either
side of the bowl. This will give your design length. Now add the 3 astelia
leaves either side front and back. Put two small pieces of conifer
front and back also.
.
Arrange the 4 camellia florets
on top of the floral foam around the candle, not all the same height.
You should no longer be able to see the floral foam, and you are ready
to add the roses.
. |
Add the roses! Take the
two roses that are most open, cut them so they are just below the candle
height with extra length to allow for being in the oasis. Place
them either side of the candle. Take two other roses, that when you put
them horizontally "look" upwards. Place these either side of your arrangement,
on top of the conifer, and slightly shorter than the end of the conifer.
|
Now add the other roses
either side of the candle, in different lengths and facing different directions. This
design is on a low table to look from above.
For a design that will be
looked at from the side, add more roses around the bottom area
Light the candle and enjoy!
