Formal dining

The formal Christmas table was decorated with a wreath, cone of huge painted seed pods and a Christmas pudding made of coconut fibre.Silver service, gold rimmed white crockery and crystal wine glasses added to the table's elegant style.

The wreath featured a large white pillar candle enclosed in glass in the centre. The white roses unified the crisp white table cloth, the carnations and the candle. Ladder fern, conifer, hypericum berries and red carnations completed the wreath.

The sprayed seedpods were meticulously glued to the cone frame in rows. To see other cone shapes used as an interpretive Christmas tree, click here Each year the floral design magazine's October edition features designs for celebrations, including Christmas. More details here

The tearooms

A room had been set aside for visitors to enjoy a cup of tea.
The hearth had semi-mirrored traditional asymmetrical designs. These featured green vertical boards with glittered tops, swirls of vine, lilies, chrysanthemums, conifer and maidenhair fern.

The individual table placements carried the theme of the green triangle and the vine swirls.Spray Chrysanthemums, white ribbon and conifer completed the design.
The large wall design pictured right, added flax to the range of plant material used in this themed room.

Hallways and odd spaces

A theme that ran through the hallways and small alcoves was the cone. This was made with gold paper and then filled in a variety of ways. Each however kept to the gold, translucent white and green theme with accents of other colours.
You can see from these three cones, the talented ladies used ribbon, beads, gilded leaves, pine cones, baubles, conifer and dried hydrangea in their designs.

The children's room

An apple and ivy wreath decorated the door. The attached ribbon goes over the door to a weight on the other side.
