Papatoetoe Garden and Floral Art Society , Auckland Area, New Zealand meets on a Tuesday night  once a month. You can join them at the Methodist Church Hall, Papatoetoe from 7.45pm on the third Tuesday of the month. In June 2002 Tricia was fortunate enough to spend a club night with this large and enthusiastic  group. Here is some of the work by their  floral artists, to inspire you  whether you are a beginner or a seasoned flower arranger. Tricia and the team at floral design magazine travel the world bringing you monthy reports of shows, workshops, demonstartions and clubs. More here.

The overall theme for all classes was 'The sky is the limit'.
All the flowers used were fresh.
The experienced designers below had the sub theme "Vertical Plus" and "Beyond the norm"
Isobel Patel used dried kelp, decorative kale and rolled astelia for her vertical design.

Rosemary Weir used green lilies and dried leaves.

Joyce Wei used willow spiralled into a cone and green lilies.

And then there were the intermediates with "Reach for the sky" ...
 .
Adrienne Barry  used white chrysanthemums and grey painted seed heads and blue delphiniums.

Joan Hudson used white arum lilies and chrysanthemums with silvered dried stalks.

The novices had the sub-theme Up and Up.
Robyne Whitehead bound fresh reeds into a cylinder, added Bells of Ireland, an aspidistra leaf and purple flower contrast.
Helen Probert used pink anthirriums and orchids in this vibrant design.

Two very different designs with ideas to try.
Barbara Carpenter wove the circle from fresh willow, with vine wire to hold it in place, added it to a tripod of the same material and added the green orchids for maximum effect.

Linda Barthorpe used puka leaves to surround the bottom of a glass cylinder and then added her arrangement of lilies on top of the cylinder. From just a short distance away it seems to be  floating above her base.

This is only a small sample of the work of this talented group of ladies and gentleman. Floralartmall.com wish to thank the club for allowing us to photograph and share their work with you.
