North West Floral Art Club, Te Atatu, Auckland area, New Zealand, meets every second Thursday, 9.30am-noon except for school holidays, in the Library Hall.  In April 2002 floralartmall.com received an email with photos of the workshop the members of this club had, on one of their regular club days. Here is some of the work by these outstanding floral artists, to inspire you whether you are a beginner or a seasoned floral arranger. The team at floral design magazine visit clubs all around the world. If you would like to see their latest adventures click here

Bernice Pointon and Pam  Peters were the tutors. They called the theme "Masquerade/Carnival of Venice".Bernice gave the participants all a  different picture each that had come off the Internet after a search for, " Carnival of Venice." She told them to look at the colours, textures and back grounds.

She said,"They really did excel themselves, the colours were beautiful and it really made them think. It was really fun, we all finished early so we could all have a good old talk and look at everyone's work. Everybody said how much they enjoyed it and that they liked working to a title, it gets the old mind working."

Bernice Pointon: "Lunar"
Bernice used fresh flowers, lilies and dried sprayed palm fronds.
To make the moon at the base, for the lunar theme, she covered a Polystyrene ball with camellia leaves and sprayed it gold.
Bettie James:
Bettie has only been  arranging flowers for a year and what talent! She used all fresh plant material and made all the mechanics herself. The design is in a o bowl elevated on a small box and is a traditional triangle.

Dawn Mathews:
Dawn's design is all in the theme pink and blue, totally with artificial plant material, including the foliage

Enid Spiers:
Enid's photo had butterflies in it and she had become very good at making them after another workshop the club had.Her design was in a blue vase, with all artificial flowers.

Nathi Patel:
"Nathi used her fire screen to do hers on," said Bernice," and the twistie bits in the  top she made from rolled up newspapers twisted, covered in red ribbon and gold braid. She even looked into her back ground, where there a stone  soldier with a sword, which she also incorporated, it was a joy."

Sue Adams:
Sue's picture had boats in the background and she had just bought a new computer. Combine the two and  use the computer packing sprayed brown to give the impression of a mast!
Sue never overdoes her designs as she likes the 'less is more' approach.

Raewyn Hollway:
Raewyn's picture has feathers everywhere and she reproduced the picture very closely in her design, using a collection of feathers.

Pam Peters:
Pam loves modern work. She  used a round ball of floral foam, added the mask and then the crown of twigs sprayed gold and the artificial anthirriums.
Now it's your turn. These are  photos from the 2002 Carnival in Venice from the website here

Be inspired and have a go turning these photos into  wonderful floral designs.
