Hauraki Floral Art Group, Auckland Area, New Zealand meets on a Wednesday once a month.  In April 2002 Tricia was fortunate enough to spend a club day with this friendly and talented  group. Here is some of the work by these outstanding floral artists, to inspire you  whether you are a beginner or a seasoned floral arranger. Since 2002 Tricia continues to visit and record the best of floral design from around the world. This is now published monthly in 'floral design' magazine. The theme for all classes was 'Seasons' Change'.

Violet Wong, from the Junior class, used red/orange  lilies, idesia polycarpa berries, magnolia leaves, safari sunset leucodendron, smilax and cinnmay for her piece entitled 'Autumn Glow'. It was presented on a piece of Kauri from Northland.

And then there were the seniors with "Rustic Charm" ...
Deborah Ward used old, lichen covered fence battens to make her structure. Dried aralias, with the backs showing, dark phornium tenax, dried asphidistra, dried seedheads and sunflowers made up the rest of this design, which won first place on the day.

Eileen  Griffin loves traditional designs and used  yellow calla lilies, pink chyrsathemums, lilies and dried asphidistra leaves in her design.

The gold class had the theme 'Fired Earth'.
Laurel Frogley used red gladiolas, red tropicana canna leaves and red carnations, laid on a very textural piece of driftwood. Black vine, bark strips and pottery completed the work.

Fay Macrae used orange sunflowers, dried strelitzia painted black, small palm spathes, and the red leaves of tropicana canna. She added broken terracotta pottery and green leaves tinged with red to complete her design.

This is only a small sample of the work of this talented group of ladies.
