A
basket of candles and roses
Unfortunately we were unable
to trace the creator of this exquisite, yet simple masterpiece.
Materials:
1 carrier with 6 sections
4 pillar candles available
here, sphagnum
moss, lichen on twigs and 8 roses in bud
Method:
Soak the moss, squeeze it
out and line the carrier with it. Add the 4 pillar candles in the
2 outer section on both ends of the carrier. Put a small piece of oasis
(green and wet) into the middle two sections, and arrange the twigs around
the edges of the oasis. Put 4 rose buds in a line down one side, and then
down the other, in 2 rows.
When you light the candles
make sure no twigs are near the flame and never have them lit if no-one
is in the area, for safety.
The candles could be mosquito
repellents and this would be wonderful by the summer BBQ, perhaps one on
each table.
Make three and run them
down the centre of your Christmas table for a beautiful, low and festive
centerpiece.
Take it as a gift for someone
who has been especially good to you this year. Its easy to carry and will
last. |

A
box of roses
This
wonderful idea came from Malcolm Angus, and is part of a demonstration
he gave at the flower show which we will cover in detail later next year.
Malcolm is a lecturer in Floral Design at Unitech, in Auckland New Zealand.
Once again you do not need a lot of flowers and you can match the colour
to any room or occasion.
Materials:
A
round, lidded box, covered in fabric. In this case Malcolm matched the
flowers on the fabric with the real plant material in the design!
4-5
roses, 4-5 stock flowers,
purple statice, and a small amount of purple chyrsanthemum flower
Method
Attach
the lid to the back so it will stay upright, with hot glue or wire. Make
this very secure as you don't want it coming down and crushing your flowers.
Line
the container with plastic to protect it from the wet oasis and then fill
with wet, green oasis to just above the rim of the container.
The
purple statice makes a collar around the rim of the box covering the oasis
as you go. Now add the roses, and fill in the gaps between with the stock
flowers and chrysanthemums.
This is a wonderful
way to give someone flowers! It is already arranged and can be put displayed
on with pride immediately.Match your flowers with their decor and it will
be very much appreciated
Great as a gift for an office
person to put on their desk in the busy days before Christmas.
Make tiny tiny versions
and use them as the place setting by each persons plate at the dinner table
with small trinkets, nuts or sweets hidden among the flowers. |
A
floral gift wrapping
Isn't this gift wrapping
just beautiful! It was at the bottom of a large arrangement by an Auckland
Floral Art Group. Again we have been unable to track down the clever designer.
It is really two presents,
the one inside the box and the design on the outside. The designer has
gone to a lot of trouble to match the paper wrapping, the ribbon and the
flowers in all the tones, tints and shades of lime green.
Materials.
4 anthuriums, 2 orange lilies,
2 yellow lilies, , bold green
leaves, finer dark green leaves, a small piece of green oasis, a small
square of cellophane , a rubber band. A present!
Method:
Wrap the present in paper
that complements the flowers and add ribbon along the centre.Gift wrapping packs are available here
Put the oasis on the center
of the cellophane. and gather the cellophane around it its bottom and sides.
Secure with a rubber band. The top should not have cellophane on it.
Add the bold green leaves
to one side, and the finer leaves on the top of them. Add the green anthuriums,
lilies and vine as you can see in the picture. Use any left over stalks
to carry on through thre arrangement so they look as if the flowers are
still attached.
Attach the arrangement to
the present with double sided cellotape.
One the present is open
the repicient has an instant transportable table design!
Instead of putting
the design in oasis, wire each part, to each other to make a shoulder
spray for the recipient.Cover the wire with florists tape to make it tidy.
This is a great idea for a special celebration or anniversary. |
